Iron Sharpens Iron

I have to relearn when to load the pictures and when to type the text. Some of my posts will probably seem disjointed for a while. So here is what the Lord showed me the other day. Travis was using a knife to cut through the bratwurst that I grilled while he was at church. I stayed home with Kemper since he was still sick. Anyway, the knife that he used was not cutting very well. It was a knife that we use a lot, but I had just sharpened it so it seemed. I watched Travis sharpen the knife and the scripture Proverbs 27:17 came to mind. "As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the coutenance of his friend." I have heard that scripture so many times, but this time God said to me, "You need to be sharpened often, too." Just like the knife gets dull with much use, so do we. Our friends and family enrich our life and we need to make that happen when we get dull. Hmmmm. I will be pondering this point all week. The Lord is sweet to share His wisdom with us. Amen! Now on to a lighter note------------------> Breakfast is so much better when you share it with a friend. Holly brought a handful of friends to breakfast. Doodlebug friends. I couldn't figure out why she was holding one hand to her side and eating with the other hand. "Holly, use both hands please." And she said, "Momma, I can't." I soon found out why. She is so funny. She looooooooooves bugs. All bugs. Grasshoppers, doodlebugs, worms, spiders, crickets, caterpillars, butterflies. The list is long. Our camping experience was great for finding bugs. Kemper, on the other hand, was happy to carry around his blanket and Kitty. He still isn't 100%, but he is getting better. I feel so bad that I didn't know he was sick. I kept asking Travis, "Why are my kids the ones who whine all the time." It was frustrating to see so many kids happy and having fun, but my two were fussing and complaining. Poor Kemper. He couldn't help it that he had a fever. I should have known. He is sick a lot. The toddler years!!!!!

Elorra, my name is Krist. I found your blog through Heather's. I just had to laugh and laugh when I read this post. I mean, there was a great spiritual application to it and I enjoyed it very much and my heart needed it this morning, so thanks for sharing your thoughts. But the story or your little girl and the bugs cracked me up. I remember one time when my daughter was smaller, we wouldn't have a pet and she wanted one so badly. Well, I went out on the front porch and she had gathered, honestly, 20 + caterpillars and placed them in a dish with leaves and said, "Mommy, I have pets now!" So when I saw your picture and read your story I wanted to say thanks for inspiring my memory. LOL
