It's my Birthday

Another blessed year with no real complaints, only blessings. I had a great Christmas and hope to post pictures of the fam really soon, but it is my birthday so I really want to enjoy the day. I was blessed with a wonderful husband who sees to my every desire and a precious set of kids who acted terrible at dinner tonight. But all is well. I went out for a jog today because I realized that today is the first day of the rest of my life. It was time to prove that I can still run a mile. I probably won't get out of bed tomorrow, but I ran 1.5 miles. Woo Hoo. And the good news is that I could have run farther. Yes, I could have. But why push it on the first day back after a long lazy spell? So, I will run again tomorrow and then post pics from Christmas. It was so awesome.

Ten things I love about my husband

Here is Holly Anna She looks like my sister, Elissa, in this picture. Ain't she cute. Her favorite color is pink so I changed my font. Holly is at the park in this picture. She refuses to look at the camera similar to the way she won't make eye contact when she knows she's in trouble. What a girl. I tried to post this picture at the bottom of my entry today, but it did not work. So Mother, you get what you asked for. More of Holly and she pops up right at the start even though I wanted the picture of me and Travis at the Big 12 Championship Game. Hook em Horns Texas Fight Go, Vince, go. And all that jazz.

Oh, where does the time go? I have not posted in a long time as my mom informed me. And where are the pictures of Holly? Well, here is my answer, but you have to wade through what I want first. I was tagged. Sort of. I read a new friend's blog (thank you, Heather in Okinawa) a while back and she recommended doing a list of the things I love about my husband. It's funny because he and I talked about this with friends on Saturday. You see, when we were getting acquainted with one another before we dated, I made a top 10 list of the things I liked about him. That list hasn't changed after getting married and having our own kids. He is such a solid person. So I think it is fitting and fun to list my top 10 reason I love him now.

Ten Things I love about Travis

1. He is sincere. There are few people as authentic as he. What you see is what you get. There are no veils or walls around him. 2. He is smart. I cannot keep up with his intellect. He can work a New York times crossword puzzle in no time flat when I can cheat and look at the answers without understanding the clue. 3. He is wise. This is different from all the knowledge he has in his noggin. He knows when to use his smarts. He knows when to be silent. He understands things and uses that understanding in amazing ways in his life. 4. He is satisfied. Now this is hard to explain. But all of us have known restless people. My husband is content. He is not aiming at some mythical existence. His identity is in Christ therefore he is secure and aims to please no man for the sake of feeling good about himself. 5. He is a great father. He loves his children. All 4 of them. He loves to read to them and meet their needs. He considers carefully how he is raising them. It is really a great thing. 6. He is handsome. I don't mean this in a shallow way though he is a welcome site to the eyes. He has inner beauty that makes him attractive too. 7. He is easy to please. This is also difficult to explain. I do not feel pressure from my husband to be or do things that I can't. He is happy with me just like I am, warts and all. He is happy with a sandwich for dinner or we can go out. He will drink water if we are out of Fresca. He will wear khakis if his jeans are in the laundry. He doesn't mind. I love this about him because I am almost always behind at getting things done. 8. I still love the fact that he plays guitar. It is amazing how little playing he gets to do these days, but I know that he can and I love to see the guitars propped up in our house. I love the songs that he writes and I love to hear them. 9. He is hard working. He loves to exert himself in the yard and help around the house. He even does the dishes when I cook. If he has to get up early for work, he never complains. Fact is, he complains about nothing at all. He just gets things done. 10. He loves the Lord. He loves the Bible and has memorized large parts of it such as the whole book of Philipians. Wow. He has wonderful, inspiring insight into scripture which gives me peace to know that my husband knows my Lord. How sweet is that? So there are ten things that I love about my husband. There is a list as long as my arm but I have given you ten. Now, you go make your own list or leave it in my comments. It is a fun and confirming thing to do. Tag, you're it!!!
